Digital kids digest 8/10/2013

Too much travelling in the last couple of weeks has killed my ability to write a coherent post about the kids sector (there’s a lot going on there) so I thought I’d put together a quick list of the more interesting stories instead.

-The 2013 Ofcom report on the attitudes of kids towards media and digital was just released. It’s not a small document but I highly recommend it.

-App Annie releases an analytics platform for ebooks.

–Data from SuperAwesome at MIPjunior showing how kids are choosing tablets over games consoles this Christmas.

-Disney Infinity launches reasonably well in US (294k units in its first month, compared to 100k for Skylanders in its first month).

-Countdown to the Moshi Monsters movie begins (which has been self-financed by Mind Candy, recent results here btw).

–Henry Hugglemonster greenlit for second season. Developed by the outrageously talented folks at Brown Bag Films in Dublin.

-Is Rovio turning into a digital TV network?

–All the slides from the SF Digital Kids Summit.

-Some great research by Interpret LLC on 6-12 kids and gaming, an area which is lacking solid data.
